01Initial Situation
Keeping the fabric in the correct position as it moves along the production line depends on the flow of information between the sensor and the drive in the edge guiding system. In ARLON İPLİK’s ERHARDT+LEIMER system, the loss of this communication was affecting the machine's regular operation. The fault assessment began by examining the sensor board and the drive board separately.

02Applied Solution
Electronic checks identified components that had lost their function in the communication circuits of both boards. The faulty parts were replaced with new ones, eliminating the problem that was preventing signal transfer between the boards. The intervention was limited to the identified communication fault, and the system's existing operating structure was preserved.

Repairing the existing electronic units instead of replacing the boards entirely allowed the system to be used again. Close-ups of the communication areas show the electronic structure worked on across the sensor and drive boards.
03Technical Assessment
In an edge guiding system, the sensor generates information about the position of the material's edge. The control and drive units use this information to operate the guiding mechanism. It is therefore not enough for the sensor or the drive to work on its own; the transfer of information between the units must also be maintained.
In this project, the fault confirmed by the source was the loss of function of components in the communication circuits. The repair focused on restoring this electronic link to working order. In general, component-level repair makes it possible to address the identified faulty circuit area without replacing the device as a whole.
04Implementation Result
After the repair, the sensor and the drive unit communicated with each other again. With the edge guiding system restored to working order, control of the fabric position on the production line could continue.
The entire process, including fault diagnosis, component replacement and restoring the system to working order, was completed within 24 hours. The devices were returned to the customer in working condition.
The video shows the fabric moving over the rollers and the equipment on the line.
05Project Outcomes
“Thanks to the expert team's rapid intervention, downtime on our line was reduced to a minimum. Every issue in the sensor and drive unit was meticulously resolved, and the system regained its original precision.”
