01Initial Situation
Our customer manufactures thermoforming machines and wanted to use its preferred automation products in its machines. For this project, the customer specifically requested a B&R automation computer and ABB drives.
Hardware selection followed the customer's preferences, while these components needed to work together within one machine architecture. Future access to control software and drawings was also important for customisation.
02Applied Solution
The machine control software, motion system and automation infrastructure were developed specifically for the application. The B&R automation computer managed the control and operator interface, while ABB drives controlled the relevant machine movements.
Software and drives were integrated to suit the thermoforming machine's operating sequence. All customer-selected components were made to work together within the same machine architecture.
03Technical Assessment
The project extended beyond delivering an operational machine. Automation software, electrical drawings and necessary system technical information were provided in full to the customer.

Businesses without their software and drawings generally depend on the original installer for control modifications. Here, the machine's controls became an open project that the customer could access and work on.
04Implementation Result
The automation system was completed using the B&R and ABB products selected by the customer and delivered ready for use. The requested control system was implemented without compromising the specified hardware choices.
The delivered project information enabled the customer to modify the software, develop the machine for new requirements and customise its controls in future.
