5.5 kW Drive Repair

Electronic faults affecting the power and control stages were identified in ESTINO's 5.5 kW motor drive. Faulty power-stage current sensing resistors were renewed, and the control-stage Modbus communication line repaired. Circuit-level repair was completed within two days; the drive was delivered operational with its machine connections and control arrangement preserved.

01Initial Situation

Electronic faults affecting the power and control stages were identified in ESTINO's 5.5 kW motor drive. As it controlled the machine motor's speed and operation, drive failure prevented use of the connected system.

Circuit-level repair was planned around preserving the drive's existing electronics. Faults in two separate stages required individual examination of the power-side measurement circuit and control-side communication line.

02Applied Solution

Power-stage measurements identified faulty current sensing resistors. Replacing these failed resistors corrected the power-stage fault.

A fault was also identified on the control-stage Modbus communication line. Repairing this line, which enables data exchange with other control equipment, restored communication.

03Technical Assessment

Current sensing resistors form part of the circuit used by the drive to monitor motor current. Since the drive relies on this measurement, failure of these resistors directly affects correct power-stage operation.

Modbus is a widely used protocol for data exchange between industrial devices. This repair resolved both power-stage current sensing and control-stage communication faults. Addressing both stages restored the drive's full functionality.

04Implementation Result

Diagnosis, component replacement and Modbus line repair were completed within two days. The 5.5 kW drive was restored to operation and delivered to ESTINO.

Repairing the existing drive board enabled reuse while preserving its connections and control arrangement within the machine. Without replacement, the drive resumed its role in controlling motor speed and operation.
